Enable Full Document Context Awareness for AI Agent
The current AI agent (beta v2.4.2+) requires manual text selection for all operations, including document summarization. Users must explicitly select content with Ctrl+A before the AI can analyze or summarize documents. This creates a significant workflow interruption compared to competitors like Microsoft 365 Copilot, which automatically accesses full document context.
Requested Enhancement:
Add automatic document-level context awareness to the AI agent, enabling:
Automatic summarization of entire documents without requiring Ctrl+A selection
Document-wide Q&A where users can ask questions about document content without copying/pasting sections
Cross-section analysis that references multiple parts of a document in a single AI response
Contextual suggestions based on the full document rather than just the current paragraph
Use Case:
When I invoke the AI agent with Ctrl+/ and type "summarize this document" or "what are the main points?", the AI should automatically analyze the entire document rather than requiring me to pre-select all text. This matches expected behavior from modern AI assistants.
Implementation Suggestion:
Add a user preference toggle for "Full Document Context" in AI plugin settings
Allow users to specify context scope: selected text only, current section, or entire document
Consider memory/token limits for large documents, possibly offering a "summarize by sections" fallback
Benefits:
Eliminates repetitive manual selection workflow
Matches user expectations from other AI-powered office suites
Enables more sophisticated document analysis capabilities
Maintains OnlyOffice's competitive advantage in privacy-focused AI integration
